While each animal is uniquely different, we market our half beef at 235lbs +/- 5lbs of edible product. Whats edible product? Thats the actual product you’ll receive for cooking at the time of pickup. Many farms will reference hot carcass weight and live animal weight, but at the end of the day, we think our customers just want to know how much meat they are purchasing to fill their freezer, so we’re simplifying the process.

Edible Product includes: Burger, Steaks, Roasts, Organ Meats, Soup Bones and Suet. Additionally, cut sizes and quantities will differ between animals based on actual harvest weight, so there is no guaranteed amount of cuts we include in the half. Just that we guarantee approximately 235lbs. Also, we give you the option on the cut sheet below to decide how many steaks or roasts you would prefer, with the balance going back into your ground product.

All 1/2 Orders are done by custom request. You will need to select your pickup month on the cut sheet to see availability of our next half.
Meat will come frozen in vacuum sealed packaging that is good for 1 year in your freezer.
The half will take up 12-16 cuft of space in a freezer so please plan accordingly. We do not take back any “unwanted” cuts, so make arrangements for any of the bones/organ meats with your friends and family.

Refund Policy

Half Beef & Half Hog Refund & Cancellation Policy

Because half-beef and half-hog orders require us to reserve a specific animal and make arrangements for processing, these orders are handled differently than products purchased directly from our Farm Store.

Deposits & Cancellations

A deposit is required to reserve a half beef or half hog. Your deposit is fully refundable if you cancel your order within 14 days of placing your order, provided the animal has not yet been committed to your order or processing arrangements have not been finalized.

After the 14-day cancellation period, or once an animal has been specifically committed to your order, the deposit becomes non-refundable. At that point, Broad Brook Beef has made a commitment to reserve the animal and incur costs associated with preparing and processing your order.

If you’ve made a full upfront payment, you also have a 14-day cancellation period to receive a full refund. If after the 14 day window you decide to cancel your order, Broad Brook Beef will refund you the difference between the deposit and the full price.

If you need to cancel after the deposit becomes non-refundable, we will make every reasonable effort to resell the reserved animal or portion of the animal. If we are able to do so, we may refund some or all of your deposit at our discretion, less any costs or fees already incurred.

If Broad Brook Beef Cannot Fulfill Your Order

If circumstances beyond your control prevent us from fulfilling your order, including the loss or unavailability of the animal before processing, Broad Brook Beef will provide a full refund of all amounts paid toward that order.
